CLIMATE in Costa Rica

First of all: Don't be scared about the notion of "Rain-Season". Not for fun the name of the Climate-Period from Mai till November in Costa Rica is called "Green Season".

At the contrast to asian Countries the days are beginning almost sunny. Just in the course of time at the day, clouds coming up - less at the pacific coast, much more in the Countryside. At evening or night the rain will be very violent.

But not the Rain is the problem - but the Water fills the Rivers and where'll be no Bridges, it's also for Jeeps sometimes difficult. Good Ways are changing in Mudcourses, also Gravel- and Asphalt-Ways are becoming big holes, when the rain washes out.

Profit of this Time: It's green everywhere, the Jungles are full of Life! Otherwise in Dryness - from December until April - principal in the North of Costa Rica, in Guanacaste, there is almost droughttime. Then Cattles and Horses on the great willows, won't find anything to eat!

The Climate in Costa Rica general is tropical - the average Temperature at the Coasts are about nearly 30 Degrees. In March and April it's also possible that it can be hotter.

In South and on the Peninsula Osa and at the carribean Side it's general humid than at the pacific Coast. Exeption is October, which brings regular much sun at the carribean Beaches like Cahuita, Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo.
